I officially stopped selling Armstrong products From Hatfield and Company in Rockwall Texas on May 28, 2025. I dedicated 25 years to selling Armstrong—17 years with George B. Allan and the last 8 years with Hatfield and Company in Rockwall Texas. Before that I worked 18 years in Refinery Maintenance. I haven’t yet decided if this is full retirement or if I’ll look for another opportunity to represent Armstrong products.
The Armstrong product manager from Hatfield and Company out of Rockwall Texas gave me a $50 Honey baked Ham gift certificate he had saved from 8 years ago for my 25 years of service selling Armstrong products. Thank you for that Greg Bloss.
Greg Bloss really isn’t a bad person. Sure, the retirement gift after 25 years felt like a bit of a hit to the groin, but I can’t forget something he did for me when I worked for him at George B. Allan.
At one point I ran into serious trouble with the IRS and they froze all of my assets. It couldn’t have happened at a worse time because my oldest daughter was getting married and I suddenly had no access to any funds.
Greg stepped in and helped me out by giving me whatever money I needed to get through that situation. I paid him back as quickly as I could, but I’ve never forgotten the help he gave me when I really needed it.
For that, I truly thank him from the bottom of my heart
This is what really hurt.
After 25 years of loyal service selling Armstrong International products, Hatfield and Company held what they called a “retirement party.” Yet not a single member of upper management showed up—they were apparently just too busy. I was even told to bring my own dessert because I’m diabetic.
Actions like that remind you exactly how much— or how little— you’re valued. Management would never treat an outside sales representative this way. Never.
People with 25+ years of experience carry knowledge, skills, and intuition that no textbook or AI can replicate. When companies let them go in the name of "cost-cutting," they lose institutional memory, mentorship, and craftsmanship. Unfortunately, many businesses focus on short-term savings instead of long-term value.
